Members of the Priestly Society of the Holy Cross who died in the first half of 2003 |
Narcís Tibau Ribot was born in La Bisal d’Empordà, Spain, on November 17, 933 and died of cancer on February 19, 2003. He did his ecclesiastical studies at the seminary in Girona. He also studied at the Leo XIII Social Institute in Madrid and at the Pontifical University of Salamanca. Ordained a priest on July 29, 1956, he belonged to the Priestly Society of the Holy Cross, which he met shortly before his priestly ordination, since 1957. He exercised his ministry in the diocese of Girona until 1979, when he decided, with the agreement of his bishop, to go to work in Ecuador, where he was rector of the Quito Seminary. In 1982 he returned to Spain because of health problems. He was always concerned with improving his theological formation and he tried to live his priesthood as a service in union with his bishop. In his final days, when his cancer had become very extensive, he offered his suffering and his life for priestly vocations.
José Manuel Serrano Galván was 29 when he died on April 20, 2003, Easter Sunday, as the result of a traffic accident. He was born on December 6, 1973 in Murcia, and joined the Priestly Society of the Holy Cross in 1999. He had a degree in classical languages, and received the highest honors in that field on graduation. His bishop sent him to the Bidasoa International Ecclesiastical College in Pamplona, where he lived while studying theology at the University of Navarre. In his scarcely four years of priesthood he was notable for his zealous service to the Church, his faithfulness to the spirit of the Work, and his apostolic zeal..
